Reiki

Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive energy modality that aids in stress reduction, relaxation, and healing.  The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words, "Rei" meaning "universal" and "Ki", meaning "life force energy." Most animals readily accept Reiki and visibly relax during a treatment.  Reiki addresses the whole being, the body, mind, and spirit.  It relieves side effects and accelerates the healing process from surgeries and injuries.  Animal Reiki is also a powerful tool for emotional healing from trauma, abuse, neglect, or fear.
TTouch Bodywork

The goal of the T-Touch bodywork  is to stimulate the function and vitality of the cells in an animal's body and to activate unused neural pathways to the brain.  Research has shown that the circular T-Touch movements activate all four types of brain waves.  Stress-reducing hormones are released and the dog's confidence is enhanced.  There is a boost in the dog's overall health and sense of well-being.  The Tellington Touch bodywork not only relaxes the muscles but it also produce changes in behaviour.

Animal Massage

Just as we benefit from massage, so do our animals.  Massage is a very powerful tool for the physical and emotional well-being of your pet.  It creates an environment for restoration and renewal, essentially allowing your animal to be a self-healer.  In addition to regular veterinary visits, massage provides a wonderful, holistic approach to maintaining overall good health and relieving pain or stress.  Regular massage sessions are an excellent form of preventative, complementary pet healthcare.  Provide your companion animal with all the benefits a massage session can bring.
Stretching is good too.
Practice yoga.
And always take naps...
Take time to chill.

What to Expect

Your companion animal may feel the need to get up and wander or simply adjust positions during the massage session.  They may exhibit “calming signals” (yawning, licking lips, shaking off) as they acclimatize to the massage experience.  This is perfectly normal.  Sessions may last from 30 minutes to one hour.  An average session is usually 45 minutes.  Expect shorter sessions initially as your pet relaxes and becomes accustomed to massage touch.

The Process

Requirements

Please do not feed your dog at least one hour before a session.

A walk with a bathroom break is advised before the massage.

If you book a home session, provide a quiet area with no distractions (other pets, family members, or toys).

Access to clean drinking water during and after the massage is important (to flush toxins).

Allow for a bathroom break following the session.

The Session

On your first visit, we will discuss your animal's health history in detail.  Where applicable, a gait analysis will be done to evaluate possible imbalances or irregularities.  This will be followed by a customized massage session.

A Harmony Animal Massage session synergistically weaves Reiki and T-Touch bodywork with traditional massage techniques to create balance and enhance the effects of the massage.  Music from the Through a Dog's Ear series or soothing therapy music from the Liquid Mind collection will be played to produce a calming atmosphere.
